LONDON (Reuters) - Retailer Woolworths has posted Christmas sales at the bottom end of analyst forecasts, knocking its shares despite an assurance that its annual profit would meet expectations.
The 100-year-old firm WLW.L said on Thursday sales at stores open more than a year rose 0.8 percent in the eight weeks to January 10.
Analyst forecasts ranged from 0.6 percent to 2.8 percent"

CHICAGO (CBS 2) By now, you may be glad to get rid of your old Christmas tree, so why not recycle?
In exchange for the trees, the city will give the owners fragrant mulch created by tossing the trees into wood chippers in a two-day recycling program on Saturday and on Jan. 17 in parks across Chicago, according to the Department of Streets and Sanitation.
Owners will also be given a pine tree sapling that can be used to grow their own Christmas tree. Owners should make sure they remove all ornaments, lights, cords and tinsel. "
